AUTHORS BOOK PUBLISHING GUIDE

PREPARING YOUR MANUSCRIPT FOR TYPESETTING:

A manuscript can be in a number of formats, the least expensive are listed first and more expensive formats follow; click on the option you are using for more details.

  1. Quark Xpress for PC. This is the software we use to typeset a document. If you have QuarkXpress, you are probably very close to learning how to typeset your own book!

    Quark Xpress for MAC.
We can support versions 3.3 or earlier on Mac. If you send a QuarkXpress (Mac) document please include a separate .txt file of the text.

  2. A generic text file such as Microsoft Word doc or Corel WordPerfect. Usually a file which is saved correctly and has a (.txt) suffix attached to the file name. For example manuscript.txt In this case we receive a file which is imported directly to QuarkXpress.

  3. Typed or printed, Hard-Copy of text. Depending on the quality of the printed text and the font used to create the document, it may be possible to use an Optical Character Recognition application to scan the printed text into a word processing application, if not the result may be as expensive as the next option.

  4. Hand-written. In this case we must have all the word processing created from scratch (hours of typing) and is very expensive.
